About us & Baker’s Cottage
Hi! I’m Jo Cunningham and I manage Baker’s Cottage which I own jointly with my husband, Peter.
We bought the house in 2004 so that we’d have a comfortable home from home for our many trips to this part of the world – Peter’s originally from Merseyside and we travel up here from our current home in Harrow many times a year to visit his extended family. One of the nicest things about owning a holiday cottage is knowing that we’re helping many of our guests keep in touch with their families too.
We chose Chester because we love the city and the ease of acces to Liverpool, North Wales and the Wirral. We knew we’d be wanting to return here for many years to come – there’s so much to do and we still haven’t done everything we want to, even though we’ve been coming here regularly since 2004!
Our Devon holiday Cottage
In 2012 we bought another two bedroom cottage, this time in the seaside town of Sidmouth in East Devon, near to the area where I grew up and went to school. We stay here when we’re visiting my family and also run it as another holiday cottage.

Our approach to holiday letting
We treat our guests the way that we would like to be treated – we aim to be friendly and respectful as well as reliable and professional. Our aim is to keep Baker’s Cottage as the kind of holiday home that we are happy to stay in ourselves.
Early on we decided to manage as many of our own bookings as possible so that we can keep the whole process more personal.
We’re committed to running the cottage in a professional manner and to make sure we get the best guidance I’ve joined the main self-catering trade organisation for England.
The Professional Association of Self-Caterers (PASC) is the organisation that drew up the Covid cleaning protocols for self-catering accommodation that was adopted by the UK Government in 2020.
